S-au decernat prestigioasele premii internationale Travel Photographer of the Year, iar printre castigatori se afla si o romanca. Castigatorul marelui premiu Travel Photographer of the Year precum si a distinctiei The Cutty Sark Award este britanicul Craig Easton. El va primi £2500 cash si £2500 international photography commission.
Motivatia juriului este:
„The differing styles and graphic nature of Craig’s two portfolios caught the judges’ eyes with the stormy Scottish landscapes providing a stark contrast to the graphic images of Paris. These landscapes, from a personal project called „Dreich” (an old Scottish word to describe wet, grey, miserable, dank weather), aren’t done justice when reproduced small on a screen in this gallery but the prints come alive with subtle moodiness.
Aside from being striking graphic images, the Parisian silhouettes illustrate the photographer’s creativity in overcoming the restrictions faced by travel photographers. Shot into the light, the semi-silhouettes were darkened to overcome French privacy and copyright laws, when shooting in lower light was not possible because of the new restrictions on shooting the Eiffel Tower when it is illuminated.”
In cadrul competitiei anuale jurizata de fotografi, editori, colectionari si alti experti in domeniu, au fost recompensate si tinerele talente. Fotografi amatori si profesionisti au luat premii in diferite categorii de varsta si gen fotografic, iar Samuel Fisch (15 ani) din Statele Unite a fost desemnat Young Travel Photographer of the Year.
Pe locul doi la categoria Young Travel Photographer – 15 to 18 years old – Places & Faces este Felicia Simion din Romania. Tanara fotografa din Romania s-a remarcat in acest an si la Sony World Photography Awards unde a fost nominalizata la sectiunea Portret / Youth. „Daca vrem, putem.” declara Felicia Simion intr-un interviu acordat aici, iar Felicia a reusit din nou de data aceasta la Travel Photographer of The Year cu urmatorul portofoliu de fotografii realizate in Romania:
Fotografiile castigatoare vor fi expuse la Royal Geographical Society in Londra intre 12 iulie si 18 august 2013. Pentru mai multe detalii, puteti accesa www.tpoty.com.
